Biofuels in Denmark

By Simbarashe Musiringofa, Zimbabwe

Danish society has by all means proved to be very responsible towards the environment. The amount of tax that the people pay for the big cars is very high because they want to reduce the amount of gases released into the atmosphere. This is not the only item I noted. The use of BIO 95 – a very eco friendly fuel - shocked me the most. Most of the cars in Denmark are using this kind of fuel. This is not because the government have forced the people to purchase such cars, but it is from the people’s will.

Back in Zimbabwe cars that run on such a fuel do not exist. Instead we are using one of the most polluting fuels: petroleum. All the cars in Zimbabwe are using this kind of fuel. The government of Zimbabwe has not made some measure that discourages people from buying the big cars, so that’s a lot of pollution.

In Denmark there are a lot of choices that people can make when buying fuel. The prices at which the types of fuels are is almost similar but people still favor or go for the BIO 95. That shows the responsibility that the Danes show towards their environment. This might be very normal to the Danes, but it’s a lot that they are contributing through that

The right way to save the environment is by starting today and saving tomorrow, and that’s exactly what the Danes are doing. I am sure and confident that the facilities that Denmark is having to combat climate change are going to contribute in convincing countries like America, since Denmark is hosting the climate summit in December.
